Ratan Tata: My inspiration

BY Divakar Kumar Panday

Ratan Tata, one of the biggest Indian business magnates and chairman of the $100 billion Tata group, is a big inspiration for me. He is a great business leader who has not only inspired me to become an enterpreneur but thousands of others as well. In this blog I will share how he inspired me. But, first let me list the highlights of his career.
Ratan Tata studied at Cornell and Harvard universities and started his career by working in the textile divisions of the Tata group. After learning the ropes of the business and showing his potential as a leader, he was given the responsibility of managing the overseas operations of the computer and hotel businesses. It was here that his talent got noticed. In 1991, JRD Tata chose him as his successor despite strong opposition by the senior executives in the company. From 1991 to 2012, Ratan Tata grew the Tata group from Rs. 10,000 cr to Rs. 130,000 cr, added 3 more companies and acquired reputed foreign companies. Tata Steel acquired European steel major, Corus, which was a bigger company than itself.
Tata motors acquired Jaguar Land Rover which is a reputed British company which makes luxury cars. Also, Ratan Tata is responsible for making the cheapest car in the world at $2500, a feat that none of the established companies have been able to accomplish even till now. Ratan Tata was a magical leader for the company. He integrated the loosely tied and diversified companies together.
His contribution to the world leaves me both amazed and awed. Firstly, I am amazed by how charismatic he is. He worked actively till the age of 75 years before retiring from active service. Even after retiring, he helps the company with his valuable inputs. There are hardly any people his age who are as active as him. Second, I am a big fan of his philanthropic efforts. Even though he was a very ruthless businessman, he never forgets to give back to the society. Two-thirds of the Tata group is owned by philanthropic groups. After retirement, he plans to work a lot more for charity. Thirdly, I would like to acquire business acumen as good as him. He paid a lot of emphasis on innovation and this helped him grow the business. His cheapest car in the world project was a revolutionary project. Even though the car hasn’t become an instant success, it will surely live up to expectations. It is commendable how despite being a relatively new automobile company, Tata motors was able to achieve what established companies have not been able to accomplish even till now. Another thing that he paid a lot of emphasis on was fore sightedness and showed how to run a successful enterprise.
In short, I learnt a lot from him and hope that you have learnt some tips about entrepreneurship after reading his blog. I highly recommend reading his biography to learn more about this charismatic business leader and also to get tips on how to be better entrepreneurs.

The service is live across Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Delhi, Bengaluru, Jaipur, Trivandrum and some tier II cities as well. During the pilot, JioMart was working with a WhatsApp business account. The JioMart website has listed essential grocery items as well as farm produce. The fruits and vegetables will be directly sourced from farmers that have collaborated with the brand. So technically, it would also compete with micro delivery platforms such as Swiggy’s Suprdaily, BBDaily and Milkbasket, and also farm to fork businesses including Ninjacart and Crofarm. The  platform  covers everything related to grocery, FMCG and consum

Nearly 2,000 e-contents uploaded to Magadh University website: VC

BY  DIVAKAR KUMAR PANDAY. Ever since the introduction of online teaching in Magadh University in mid-April, nearly 2000 e-contents have been uploaded to the university website, says vice chancellor Prof Rajendra Prasad and fresh uploads are being made for the benefit of students. The good thing, according to the VC was that students of other universities too can benefit from the study material available on the MU website. The colleges too have been directed to provide links of their online teaching programmes on their respective websites. “Conceding that online teaching cannot be a substitute to classroom interactions,” the VC said that the university has to adapt itself to the post-covid realities. E-learning was here to stay post Covid as well in the form of supplement to class room teaching, said Prof Rajendra Prasad. Whereas the performance of PG departments and constituent colleges have been satisfactory in the field of online teaching, the same cannot be said about the

IIT Roorkee professor develops software to detect COVID19 in 5 second..

A professor at IIT-Roorkee has developed a software, which he claimed, can detect COVID-19 within five seconds. Kamal Jain IIT Roorkee’s Civil Engineering Department claimed that he took 40 days to develop the software, which will not only reduce time, but also testing costs drastically. At present, it takes about 24 to 48 hours to get COVID19 test results, and costs around Rs 4,500. The IIT professor also claimed that the new software will also reduce the risk of exposure to healthcare professionals. However, there has been no verification of his claim by any medical institution, including the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). But, Kamal Jain is confident about his software, and has already filed a patent for the technique, and has also approached the ICMR for a endorsement. He claimed to have developed an AI-based database, which can analyze more than 60,000 X-ray scans, including those of COVID19, pneumonia and TB patients in about five seconds. In the pro
